September Artist of the Month – Abbie Sophia
September 12th, 2017
Graduating with a master’s in social work, Abbie Sophia did not know where life would lead her. She was always interested in photography but didn’t pursue it. She was had just graduated social work school when one of her friends said she should take over for him as a local photographer. “I laughed at first,” Abbie says, “but after he brought me on his first shoot I was hooked!” She remained working as a social worker full time until 2016, when she had built up her business enough that she could quit to pursue her dream as a full-time photographer. Abbie focuses on connection and personal emotion in her portraiture and event work. She says, ” it’s a very addicting profession.” She captures all the love and beauty of interaction between family, and tries to capture the essence of her subjects in the best way she can.
Abbie’s favorite cameras to use are the Canon Mark IV and a sony a7ii along with many different lenses. She edits everything in Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop. One of Abbie’s favorite substrates to print on is metals (which conveniently Skyframe offers). Abbie offers different packages on her website. You can view some of her work at www.abbiesophia.com.
She was featured in National Geographic and has won top photographer in Bergen county in the past. Her most important goal is for all of her clients to be happy, to have fun during their session and fall in love with their photos.
