Lorraine O'Grady's Frame Performance

For her performance Art Is..., Lorraine O'Grady entered a float into the 1983 African-American Day Parade, which ran (and still runs) up Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard in Harlem. On the side of the float, in big letters, were the words "Art Is" atop it, running lengthwise with a massive 15 foot gold picture frame.
